Thank you Jarrod for sharing your find.  There’s nothing like the flavor of Bacon to make a fat kid all giddy.

Where’s the Spirit? Today’s Words and Songs

December 23, 2009

http://homepage.mac.com/onehundredbhq/.Public/drunksanta.jpgI love the feeling of the holidays. The smiles on peoples’ faces warm my heart. The heightened sense of compassion displayed by others inspires me to be a better person.

Okay, wait. Wait, hold on.

I love the IDEA of the feeling of the holidays. Where has the feel-good gone?

I can see the awe, wonder and holiday spirit within children. I do enjoy seeing how happy they are. I can feel a hint of the warm-fuzzy feeling come back into my heart.

The lack of snow this year hasn’t helped the spirit this year—no matter how much I hate to admit it.  Oh, how I would love to spout off all the terrible things going wrong with society, how all of these things are contributing to our general unhappiness, and throwing our holiday spirit out the window. I’m not going to do that. I will not focus on the negative. (screw money). Okay, now I’m done.

I’m excited to spend time with the family over this upcoming extended weekend. I love all of them, every single one.  We always have a great time. I’m sure this is just what I need to pull me out of this funk. Thinking of all the kids with smiles on their faces and ripping through their gifts about brings a tear to my eye. (my left eye, FYI).

I’m afraid all I will do is eat all the wonderful and delicious food. Oh boy, how I would love to. I am promising to you and myself – I will not cave. I have too much time invested in shedding those pounds and still have work to do. It doesn’t change the fact that I want to pig-out. YUM.

Definitions for words I’ve been thinking about today:

complacent: self-satisfied, unconcerned.

unmotivated: having no motive, stimulus, or influence: lack of incentive or drive.

distracted: mentally confused, troubled or remote.

depressed: low in spirits, especially sad, affected by psychological depression.

Quote of the Day:

It is better to offer no excuse than a bad one. – George Washington

Songs for today: (I highly suggest looking up the lyrics)

Oatmeal, Hard Candy, Miracle Whip, and Peanut Butter

December 21, 2009

I’m off to an early start on the Resolution Project it seems. Wonder if I can keep it up. I’m so gung-ho for new things in the beginning. Well, let’s get to it.

I found a new website. While doing some paroosing inspired by boredom on digg.com I found an awesome little nugget of treasure buried within the endless clicks of the next button. TheOatmeal.com is simply amazing. Check out the features. If you have a humor such as mine, even ever so slightly, you will fall in love with this. According to the site:

The Oatmeal is a one man operation. Everything on this site is written, drawn, coded, and marketed by one guy.

Then a link which says, “Keep him caffenated! Buy The Oatmeal a cup of coffee,” directs you to PayPal to donate money. I love this guy. (Note to self: add to the people to be stalked list.)

This site is definitely worth checking out and worth a little bit of a donation. Looking for more adventure? Check out the five other sites shown at the bottom of the page. (Still want more? Check out his Twitter, Facebook, and Everything page.

I watched a movie. How did I get so behind the times? I just finished watching Hard Candy. Where have I been? I was bored at home and decided to look through the free movies on demand. This curious little flick comes up starring Ellen Page, whom I love.

I was not expecting what I had seen. It’s refreshing to watch this indie film. I enjoyed the original story and the filmography. Despite it being somewhat disturbing.

Again, I don’t know why I had just now watched a movie released in 2005, but I’m happy I did.

I tried a new recipe. It may not even count as a recipe, however I did find it in cookbook. A cookbook built through the collaboration of my co-workers. Nested neatly on the top of page 152 of 160 in the “Advantage of Cooking – Favorites from Advantage IQ” cookbook. Is this curious little number: Peanut Butter & Miracle Whip Sandwich.

Awesome, finally a recipe in here that I happen to have the ingredients for. I have to be honest, I didn’t think or intend to find something to cook in here. At least not at the moment with my bachelor pad pantry. Bread? Check. Peanut Butter (crunchy of course)? Check. Miracle Whip? Check.

The concoction is… bearable. The second-coming? No, not for me.

What more could inspire such an awesome google search? Nothing more than “Peanut Butter and Miracle Whip Sandwich.” Wow, people are crazy about these things. I found this enjoyable little article from dallasnews.com, apparently when Southern boys say “mayonnaise,” they really mean Miracle Whip.

Now this has officially been a productive day.

The Little Drummer Boy by Assembling the Empire

I started working on a webiste to promote myself. I always find myself doinglittle odds-n-ends technical type jobs.

In order to gain more business and these “side jobs” of sorts, I decided to start posting all the projects I’ve worked on. Starting with the most recent.

Of course, this site has very limited information on it right now. I’ll slowly add more content to it as I find the time. I’m excited. It will be some sort of portfolio.

The most recent project to add is a set of promo cds to be sent out to different radio stations for Assembling the Empire.

On another note, I’m going to St. Maries this afternoon to have dinner with the family. Which is good cause I’m hungry!

Resolution Project

Just me being hardcore

My great friend Jayme came across an idea on a blog. The idea is quite simple. Learn something new everyday. She sent a message to myself and a couple others hoping to find someone to do this along with her. This is my official “yes”. (Read her blog post here)

Of course, this idea can be improved upon, right? So here’s the general idea. Learn something new, work on something, or take steps to improve your health. Or simply, try something new or do something different.

(I apologize for taking some of this verbiage directly from your blog post)

This project sounds like a lot of fun to me. What do I see in this for me? A friend or group of friends that will be doing a similar project which will keep me motivated and on task to keep my blog updated.

And how fun to read what everyone else is learning.

This is about discovery. Possibly more personal and internal than we think.

Well here we go!
