The one of my dreams, finally at 29

January 18, 2010

So, tomorrow. January 19, 2010. I will officially be 29 years old. Where did the time go and how did it go by so fast?

Tomorrow: Renew license (actually get my Washington license after all this time). I’ve been working late so I can go during work to get my new license. According to Kim, the gal I work next to, she waited over 3 hours last time she had to renew her license. I have a plan though. I shall get there 20 minutes before they open the door and wait in line. I’ll let you know how it turns out.

Stephen will be here on Wednesday. Should I be a bit nervous? A bit anxious? — Well I am. I know this will work out well, it’s just a big change for the both of us. I think I’m worried most of all for his sake. I don’t want him to be stuck somewhere he doesn’t like. I don’t think we will have a problem though because I trust he will tell me his feelings and I’m really not opposed to going somewhere else. Honestly, I really don’t have too much holding me here in Spokane. He would like us to stay here for at least a little while. A year or two?

I guess, it’s just a big change – for the both of us. The reality will set in a few days later. This will be good. We are good at communicating with each other and it is easy to be in the company of each other. We’ll make this work.

Next thing I know, we’ll be embracing each other, going forward and never looking back.

He’s the one I’ve been waiting for all of these years. 29 and the one in my dreams has finally become a reality. This just happens a bit sooner for some and a bit later for others.

Today I’ve been concentrating on a shopping list and coming up with different meal plans. I guess my dad was right. I will make someone a good wife some day. I’m such an odd duck. Work on the car. Work on the computer. Work in the kitchen. Work on the laundry. Work on the house. –and I enjoy all of it.

Anyhow, just random ramblings. Not much for organized thoughts for today.

Thank you Jarrod for sharing your find.  There’s nothing like the flavor of Bacon to make a fat kid all giddy.

Bacon flavored popcorn from thinkgeek.com.

Pretty self-explanatory. Check out the other bacon products.

I’ve learned something new. The possibilities of artificial bacon flavoring are endless.

Oatmeal, Hard Candy, Miracle Whip, and Peanut Butter

December 21, 2009

I’m off to an early start on the Resolution Project it seems. Wonder if I can keep it up. I’m so gung-ho for new things in the beginning. Well, let’s get to it.

I found a new website. While doing some paroosing inspired by boredom on digg.com I found an awesome little nugget of treasure buried within the endless clicks of the next button. TheOatmeal.com is simply amazing. Check out the features. If you have a humor such as mine, even ever so slightly, you will fall in love with this. According to the site:

The Oatmeal is a one man operation. Everything on this site is written, drawn, coded, and marketed by one guy.

Then a link which says, “Keep him caffenated! Buy The Oatmeal a cup of coffee,” directs you to PayPal to donate money. I love this guy. (Note to self: add to the people to be stalked list.)

This site is definitely worth checking out and worth a little bit of a donation. Looking for more adventure? Check out the five other sites shown at the bottom of the page. (Still want more? Check out his Twitter, Facebook, and Everything page.

I watched a movie. How did I get so behind the times? I just finished watching Hard Candy. Where have I been? I was bored at home and decided to look through the free movies on demand. This curious little flick comes up starring Ellen Page, whom I love.

I was not expecting what I had seen. It’s refreshing to watch this indie film. I enjoyed the original story and the filmography. Despite it being somewhat disturbing.

Again, I don’t know why I had just now watched a movie released in 2005, but I’m happy I did.

I tried a new recipe. It may not even count as a recipe, however I did find it in cookbook. A cookbook built through the collaboration of my co-workers. Nested neatly on the top of page 152 of 160 in the “Advantage of Cooking – Favorites from Advantage IQ” cookbook. Is this curious little number: Peanut Butter & Miracle Whip Sandwich.

Awesome, finally a recipe in here that I happen to have the ingredients for. I have to be honest, I didn’t think or intend to find something to cook in here. At least not at the moment with my bachelor pad pantry. Bread? Check. Peanut Butter (crunchy of course)? Check. Miracle Whip? Check.

The concoction is… bearable. The second-coming? No, not for me.

What more could inspire such an awesome google search? Nothing more than “Peanut Butter and Miracle Whip Sandwich.” Wow, people are crazy about these things. I found this enjoyable little article from dallasnews.com, apparently when Southern boys say “mayonnaise,” they really mean Miracle Whip.

Now this has officially been a productive day.

Friday is Dip day!

September 16, 2009

A Chip and Dip day was organized for work on Friday.  I’m pretty excited. I love cooking for people because I never have the chance to do it much, other than for myself. I’m planning on using the previous two recipes I’ve posted to bring to work for the “Chip and Dip” day.  I want to hollow out the bread the put the spinach dip in it.  It may not work because the dip will probably be served better warm.  I may have to just hollow the bread, cube it, then place it back in the hollowed bread loaves.

Anyhow, here goes!

It came! First Recipe down. Quiche aux Epinards

September 3, 2009
Quiche aux Epindards (Spinach Quiche). First recipe down!

Quiche aux Epinards (Spinach Quiche). First recipe down!

Whew. That was some work.

My copy of “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” finally arrived. Awesome. The first recipe? Quiche aux Epinards, or Spinach Quiche.

Everything made by scratch. Pastry crust, nummy filling… at least I hope so. I’m excited to dig in tomorrow at work with my food

testers/critics.

I’d say it turned out quite well. It looks that way at least.

I’ll let you know how it goes tomorrow.
